Always Focusing on Car Lovers: The History of Collinite from 1936 to Today
In 1936, the namesake Charles H. Collins founded the company. Mr. Collins was a sales representative for Gabriel Snubber Distribution, a company for auto parts and chemicals, in the 1920s. As a seller with a high sense of customer satisfaction, Collins began developing his own formula for industrial cleaners and waxes. He sold his products locally after losing his job with Gabriel Snubber Distribution during the Great Depression.
Over the decades, Charles continued to develop Collinite with his son Chuck. Customer satisfaction has always been the priority for all products. Expensive advertising, elaborate packaging, and exaggerated shows are not found at Collinite.
In 1983, Chuck Collins was looking for a successor and chose school teacher and photographer Mike Tylor. This was an unusual step as Mike was not a businessman. However, he quickly proved to be the right choice, as Mike was able to generate enthusiasm for the Collinite products and make Collinite known worldwide through "word of mouth".
Collinite Today: The Detailing Family Business
Since 2013, Collinite has been run by Mike Taylor's sons, Mark and Patrick. The brothers divided the tasks; Mark is responsible for sales and Patrick for production and product development. The puristic online presence shows that Collinite has not lost any of its old charm and continues to be a family business in the detailing industry. One can see the brothers with their young children, thus already with the next generation, on the phone and in the production and storage facilities.
