Flex ORE 3-150 EC is a powerful orbital sander with speed control for 150mm sanding media. This handy sander is optimized for maximum ergonomics and low vibration operation. Combined with sanding media from Kovax and Finixa, it allows for quick removal of paint defects and prepares surfaces safely for subsequent polishing with rotary and orbital polishers.

Quickly Remove Paint Defects: 3mm Sanding with the Flex ORE 3-150 EC

Paint defect corrections such as removing scratches, weathering, and fading have been performed for many years using rotary and orbital polishing machines. Since clear coats often measure less than 20mµ, or 20/1000 mm, it is essential to ensure that too much clear coat isn't removed. However, as clear coat layers become thinner and harder, sanding can be a beneficial method for certain defects. In the USA, sanding—a term for the sanding of paints—is significantly more popular, partly due to the large customizing scene and generally thicker clear coat layers.

By dry sanding with KOVAX, 3D, or Finixa media and a 3mm stroke, experienced detailers and vehicle detailers can safely sand paint and then polish it using conventional polishing methods. Our test video shows that paint removal with the Kovax Buflex K3000 is between 1-2mµ, making it comparable to more aggressive rotary polishing. Depending on the condition of the paint, defects can thus be addressed much more efficiently.
