Anyone dealing with paint defect correction through polishing quickly realizes the need to protect plastic, seals, and gaps. Many enthusiasts admittedly start their search for masking tapes at local hardware stores. However, painter tapes are unsuitable for polishing because they are often rough and not designed for the stresses of polishing. From the beginning, we have offered specialized masking tapes for polishing and other car care disciplines. KAMOI Masking Tapes Kabuki-S and Big Boss from Japan: The Best Choice for Polishing Protection

When selecting our product range, we rely on the expertise of the best detailers, with whom we have strong, friendly connections. It has been shown that while the mentioned tapes are good, they still do not reach the level of the "best detailing masking tape." The combination of adhesive strength, polishability - without lifting at the edges and thus transferring glue to the polishing pad - and tear resistance remains unmatched. The benchmark we were shown is KAMOI Kabuki-S from Japan.

Having already had three manufacturers of masking tape in our program and conducting product decisions through our own tests and evaluation processes, we have closely examined KAMOI masking tapes. KAMOI tapes come with 18 meters per roll and have a much smaller core than other masking tapes. This proves to be a significant advantage when working indoors or masking small areas like emblems and logos. The strength combined with flexibility is impressive; the Kabuki-S tape feels almost rubbery and is very easy to navigate around curves and corners. In tests with flour and activated charcoal - yes, you read that right - we found no significant adhesive residue after removing either Kabuki-S or the slightly cheaper Big Boss. In sum, we can confirm: KAMOI masking tapes are the gold standard!

From Japan? Must be Expensive!

As an official partner of KAMOI, we import the tapes directly from Japan and sell them in original sealed packaging units with up to 20 rolls. With the DETAILER Set, we offer all available sizes in a sample set. Based on the price per meter, we are on par with other masking tapes. With slightly cheaper masking tape KAMOI Big Boss in pink, a second color option is available. Big Boss offers slightly stronger adhesive performance and a bit less flexibility. KAMOI Kabuki-S and Big Boss are approved for paint drying at 100 degrees Celsius for up to 30 minutes, making them the most popular tape among paint shops in Japan.
