Wash buckets for hand washing vehicles are associated with the US manufacturer Grit Guard Inc., but the invention of Grit Guard is not the wash bucket itself, but the company's eponymous dirt sieve, which prevents dirt particles from being stirred up and thus allows for a scratch-free or nearly scratch-free hand wash. Grit Guard® wash bucket inserts have been developed for virtually standardized US wash buckets and therefore also fit the new buckets from Magic Bucket.

The Magic Bucket is thus not a completely newly developed wash bucket. It essentially resembles the US wash buckets produced by many manufacturers worldwide for decades. However, it should not be overlooked that Magic Bucket is produced exclusively for car care and therefore has some unique features in terms of quality, compatibility, and design.

3.5 or 5 Gallons: Which size of hand wash bucket is recommended?

When deciding on the right size of the wash bucket, many factors need to be considered. Size of the vehicle, type of washing method, frequency of car washes, and not least the space in the vehicle or trunk also need to be taken into account. Therefore, we cannot give a fixed recommendation and rule for this question. If you wash your car at the wash box, you should choose a size that fits in the trunk. We recommend preparing the shampoo water at home or in your own garage, and therefore seal the wash bucket with a lid for the trip to the wash box.

Our tip for washing enthusiasts at the wash box: If the local wash park operator prohibits hand washing with personal utensils with large signs, it is usually because the wash boxes are being occupied for too long. Asking the operator if it's okay to wash with your own equipment early in the morning or late in the evening when there's little to no traffic is usually met positively. The car can be cleaned in peace with your own – ideally pH-neutral or biodegradable washing chemistry – and you often meet like-minded car care nerds with the proverbial "nail in the head".
