The wash buckets for hand washing the vehicle are associated with the US manufacturer Grit Guard Inc., but the invention of Grit Guard is not the wash bucket, but the dirt sieve of the same name that prevents the stirring up of dirt particles, thus enabling a scratch-free or barely scratchy hand wash. Grit Guard® wash bucket inserts were developed for virtually standardized US wash buckets and therefore also fit into the new wash buckets from Magic Bucket.

The Magic Bucket is also not a completely newly developed wash bucket. It resembles the US wash buckets that have been produced by many manufacturers worldwide for decades in essential parts. 3.5 or 5 Gallons: Which size for hand wash buckets is recommended?

When deciding on the right size of the wash bucket, many factors need to be taken into account. Size of the vehicle, type of washing method, frequency of car washing, and not least the space in the car or trunk should be considered. Therefore, we cannot give a fixed recommendation and rule for this question. If you wash your car at the wash box, you should choose a size that fits in the trunk. We recommend preparing the shampoo water at home or in your own garage and therefore closing the wash bucket with a lid for the drive to the wash box.

Our tip for washing enthusiasts at the wash box: If the local wash park operator prohibits hand washing with your own utensils with large signs, it usually means that the wash boxes are taking too long. Asking the operator whether it is okay to wash early in the morning or late at night with your own equipment when there is little or no operation is usually answered positively. The car can be cleaned in peace with your own - ideally pH-neutral or biodegradable washing chemistry - and you often meet fellow car care nerds with the proverbial "nail in their head".
